Mattress donation campaign to end plagiocephaly

Campaña de donación de colchones para acabar con la plagiocefalia

To mark World Plagiocephaly Day, celebrated every April 4, ECUS Kids is launching a mattress donation campaign in Spain, France, and Portugal to fulfill our mission: to end plagiocephaly in babies.

Plagiocephaly is a condition that affects 47% of babies worldwide, according to data from the American scientific journal Pediatrics, and involves cranial deformation due to positional causes when babies spend a lot of time with constant pressure on their heads. In recent years, plagiocephaly has been on the rise due to medical recommendations that babies sleep in the supine position (on their backs) to avoid the risk of suffocation.

To carry out this international donation campaign, we contacted shelters and NGOs in the countries where we work to inform them of our mission and offer our mattresses to babies in need. Our mission is to ensure that no baby suffers from plagiocephaly, and we want to help all families, including those with financial difficulties. So far, as of April, we have protected nearly 140,000 babies worldwide, and we hope that campaigns like this will raise awareness among future parents of the importance of healthy sleep for babies.

Donation of mattresses to the Red Cross and other NGOs in France and Portugal

We have recently begun a collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross in the field of social inclusion, with an initial donation of Care® anti-plagiocephaly crib mattresses to the provinces of Alicante, Valencia, and Barcelona. The Red Cross's deputy director of social inclusion knowledge, Olga Días Escalona, has emphasized that the beneficiaries of these children's mattresses will be boys and girls from vulnerable families who are cared for by the Red Cross in different accommodation facilities.

In Portugal, we have donated Care® mattresses to Banco do Bebé, an NGO that seeks to promote dignity at the beginning of life by providing essential items for babies and children aged 0 to 6 and training parents and caregivers in the care of their children.

In France, we have also collaborated with the YGY for YOU health center in Suresnes by donating mattresses to help raise awareness about the problem of plagiocephaly in newborns.
