The Nanny Care® BM-02 breathing monitor tracks your baby’s breathing movements while they sleep and activates an audible and visual alert if it stops detecting them or if the breathing rate drops too low. It brings together essential functions in an easy-to-use system, with an automatic self-test when switched on and a light indicator for detected movements.

The sensor pad is installed underneath the mattress, without contact with your baby, and works via a cable connected to the control unit, with no need for Wi-Fi or a mobile app.

Use and maintenance

Place the sensor pad under the mattress, with the lettering facing up and centred in the area where the baby's chest will rest. It must rest on a flat, firm surface and must not be bent. If the cot has a slatted base, place a rigid board underneath that extends approximately 3 cm around the pad.

Connect the pad to the control unit and secure the cable so that it is completely out of the baby's reach and has no loose sections. The unit must remain visible, be clearly audible and be positioned at least 50 cm from the baby. The included 5-metre extension cable allows it to be placed outside the cot when necessary.

Perform a test after installation and then once a week. Turn on the monitor, check the confirmation beep and the green indicator are working, then remove the baby from the cot. The alarm should activate after approximately 20 seconds without detecting movement. Repeat the test if you move the cot or place any potential source of vibration nearby.

Use only new, non-rechargeable AA LR6 alkaline batteries. To clean the pad and control unit, use a slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh products. Do not immerse the device or allow moisture to enter the connectors. Periodically check that condensation does not build up between the pad and the mattress, and protect the panel, cable and connectors from impacts, bending or pulling.

Important information: the BM-02 is an alert device. It does not itself prevent respiratory arrest, restore vital functions or replace baby care, safe sleep recommendations or medical attention.

Important: the sensor pad has a service life of 2 years from first use and must be replaced once this period has elapsed to maintain the system’s reliability. The product’s legal warranty and the stated service life of the sensor pad are different concepts.

What does the Nanny Care breathing monitor detect?

Does the Nanny Care monitor prevent sudden infant death syndrome?

No. Nanny Care is analert device: it can warn of a possible cessation or decrease in breathing rate so that an adult can respond and take action. How is it installed?

The sensor pad must be placed under the mattress, in the area where the baby’s chest will rest, with the upper side facing upward and on a flat, firm surface. If the crib has a slatted base, it must rest on a rigid board that extends approximately 3 cm around the pad.

The cable must be kept completely out of the baby’s reach, and the control unit must be installed where the alarm can be seen and heard. After installation, the functional test specified in the manual must be performed.

Is it compatible with any mattress?

It is compatible with most crib mattresses up to 12 cm thick, provided they allow breathing movements to be properly transmitted to the sensor pad. Mattresses made of excessively firm materials are not recommended, as they may interfere with detection.

Compatibility should not be assumed based on thickness alone: after installing the monitor, you must check that the indicator responds to the baby's movements and that the alarm activates correctly during the function test.

Can it be used in a bedside crib?

Yes, as long as the baby's crib does not touch the adults' bed. If both surfaces are in contact, the monitor could detect the movements or breathing of the person sleeping next to the baby and not work properly.

Can it be used for twins?

Yes, but each baby must have their own crib and their own Nanny Care monitor. The cribs must not touch each other either, as one monitor could detect the other baby's movements. A single control unit must not be used to monitor two children.

Does it need Wi-Fi or a mobile app?

No. The sensor pad connects to the control unit by cable, and the device operates independently with two AA alkaline batteries. It does not require Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a mobile app.

When should the sensor pad be replaced?

The sensor pad has a service life of 2 years and must be replaced once this period has elapsed, even if it still appears to be working. With use and over time, the sensor may lose sensitivity, increasing the risk of false alarms or incorrect detection.

What should I do if the alarm goes off?

Go immediately and check the baby's condition. If the baby is not breathing normally or does not respond, contact the emergency services and follow their instructions. Pediatric first aid should be administered in accordance with the training received.

The alarm warns of a possible abnormality, but it does not determine its cause or replace an assessment by a healthcare professional.
