One of the questions we ask ourselves as parents is when we should take the step of moving our baby from sleeping in a crib to sleeping in a bed. Is there a specific age or time that indicates when this should happen? When is the right time to move from a crib to a bed?
The moment of transition: from crib to bed
The transition from a crib to a bed is an important milestone for a baby. Every change in our lives requires decisions that we have been mulling over until we are ready to take the final step. If it also affects our baby, the decision—due to the overprotectiveness of many parents—is always a little more difficult. It is not easy to determine how long a baby can use a crib mattress.
The mattress is manufactured based on studies that indicate the dimensions and firmness of the mattress according to age. Beyond these studies and recommendations, the most important thing is to monitor your baby's weight and growth. Not all babies grow at the same rate or in the same way. In other words, the time for change will be when parents see that, due to their weight and height, their baby is not comfortable in the crib, regardless of their age.
Therefore, there is no exact age for switching from a crib to a bed. The child's natural development will indicate when we should take this step. This usually coincides with the age of 2, because that is when they begin to gain independence, walk, want to get in and out of bed on their own, etc.
However, it is important that we always respect each child's pace and that the transition from crib to bed is a gradual, non-forced process that the child agrees with and is happy to do.
Dubi Nature and Care Junior Mattresses
At ECUS Kids, we have developed different multi-stage children's mattresses designed to make the transition from crib to bed as easy as possible. The Dubi Nature and Care Junior models are the mattresses in our collection intended for this new stage for children aged 2 and up.
A foam mattress with side barriers, such as the Dubi Nature mattress, or a hybrid mattress with pocket springs and medically certified foam, such as the Care Junior mattress.
Both adapt to the child's growth to make the transition from crib to bed easier. These mattresses have been designed and manufactured to offer natural and healthy rest during this early stage and up to adolescence, accompanying children throughout their development and growth.
