We know that before buying a product for your baby, you have seen and compared many different brands. And this may have even generated more uncertainty for you. In this section, we will try to resolve the most frequent questions that moms and dads ask when buying one of our products. And we can tell you in advance: they usually convince them! What is the difference between the Care mattress and the Care Ultimate mattress?
The difference between the Care mattress and the Care Ultimate mattress lies in the materials and fabrics used. The Care Ultimate mattress is even more breathable, cooler and drier than the Care mattress. Its fabric with Xtra Cool technology made of cold thread, offers a feeling of coolness that does not generate heat, dissipates moisture, and helps regulate temperature. The foam core is also more breathable, as it is very porous and open, and does not retain moisture, keeping the baby dry.
As for functionality, it is the same: both are anti-flat head syndrome mattresses because they reduce pressure on the baby's head by up to 70%, preventing positional plagiocephaly and improving it if the baby already suffers from it. Both are very safe mattresses and also avoid any risk of suffocation. Both have the health certificate from the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products.
What is the difference between the Care mattress and the Care Pigü?
The Care crib mattress has health certification from the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products for its ability to prevent plagiocephaly and asphyxia. Its technical foam in bubble format reduces pressure by up to 70% on the baby's head, providing ergonomic support and contributing to the prevention of flattening of the head. The white part of the mattress (topper) is divisible thanks to its zipper system and can be used as a travel mattress, play mat, co-sleeping…
On the other hand, the Care Pigü mattress does not have health certification and is capable of reducing pressure on the baby's head by up to 49%. Its foam also has a bubble format design, but somewhat simpler. It has side barriers made of foam that encourage the baby to sleep in the center of the mattress naturally.
The cover of both mattresses is designed in 3D fabric to ensure breathability of the mattress and is hypoallergenic. Both have the same composition of 100% PES.
What is the difference between the Oxsi, Oxsi Visco, and Oxsi Visco Plus mattresses?
At Ecus Kids, we adapt to your needs and those of your baby. That is why we have created the Oxsi range, which includes three different models:
- Oxsi is the simplest version of the mattress, it has a breathable foam core without memory foam.
- Oxsi Visco is the mid-range version, to which we have added a layer of memory foam that adapts to reduce the pressure exerted on the baby's body.
- Oxsi Visco Plus is the high-end model of the Oxsi collection, with a layer of wavy memory foam for greater breathability and less pressure on the body and head of the baby.
The 3 models share the same reversible cover, with one side for winter (white fabric) and the other for summer (gray 3D fabric). The cover can be removed and flipped with each change of season.
The baby should always sleep on the side of the memory foam in the case of the Oxsi Visco and Oxsi Visco Plus mattresses. In the case of the Oxsi mattress, it does not matter because the foam block is the same on both sides, in this case, you could directly flip the mattress (without needing to remove the cover) with the change of season.
Can the mattress be custom made?
If you need a mattress size different from those available on the website, we offer you the possibility of making a custom mattress. This option is only possible with the Care model, in its categories of crib, carrycot, and cot.

At what age is it recommended to use a pillow?
The Spanish Association of Pediatrics (AEP) advises not to use pillows for newborns and infants. Neither blankets, stuffed animals, nor any other object that could pose even a minimal risk of suffocation to the baby. If the baby moves at night and turns over –and then cannot return to lying on their back–, their nose could get trapped against the pillow and therefore have more difficulty breathing.
During the first year of life, the use of a pillow can interfere with the natural alignment of the spine of babies, who are still developing their bone and muscle structure. The proportions of babies are not like those of adults: their neck is small and their head is much larger relative to the size of their body. Sleeping with a pillow, in addition to the discomfort it may cause, can force the natural curvature of their neck.
The general recommendation is that babies start using a pillow from the age of 2.
When the time comes to introduce a pillow for your little one, it is important to choose a pillow suitable for their age and size. Opt for a low and soft pillow, specifically designed for toddlers, that provides adequate support for their head and neck.
Does using a protector reduce the breathability properties of the mattress?
Ecus Kids mattresses are designed for optimal breathability. Using a mattress protector is not necessary, but it is normal for many moms and dads to feel more at ease if you use one.
Naturally, any protector or sheet placed between the mattress and the baby will reduce the breathability properties of the mattress. That is why we recommend using a mattress protector that is as breathable as possible, allowing air to circulate well between its fibers in order to minimize the reduction of breathability properties of the mattress.
At Ecus Kids, we have the waterproof Soft fitted sheet. This super soft sheet to the touch of your baby's skin allows for air circulation and the expulsion of CO2, thus avoiding any risk. You will achieve better maintenance of the mattress, as it will remain dry and ready for the baby to sleep without moisture and without unwanted stains.
Can the anti-reflux wedge be replaced by a pillow?
The wedge and the pillow have different functions. The wedge is specifically designed to gently elevate the baby's torso and help prevent gastroesophageal reflux and respiratory conditions.
It is not advisable to use pillows, towels, blankets, or any similar objects to prop up the baby, because all these items can pose a risk of suffocation or obstruction of the airways in babies during the first year of life.
Therefore, pillows at these ages are recommended for use on other surfaces to prevent flattening of the head, such as strollers, hammocks, or car seats, where the baby is in a fixed position and is not at risk of suffocation. Your baby can start using a pillow in the crib under the recommendation of a doctor or specialist. It is advisable that children do not use a pillow until they are 2 years old.
It is essential to follow safety guidelines to provide the safest possible environment for the baby's rest.
What does it mean for it to be a healthcare product?
A healthcare product is one that is used in the field of health without being a medication because it claims properties that prevent health problems or serve to treat a pathology or ailment.
Healthcare products are regulated by Royal Decree 1591/2009 under the supervision of the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), an agency dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of Spain.
To obtain this certificate, it is necessary to present studies and reports that certify compliance with the health benefits of the product and its manufacturing process. When the manufacturing company obtains the license, the manufactured product is a healthcare product and bears the CE marking.
Are memory foam mattresses suitable for babies?
Memory foam mattresses can be suitable for babies, as long as they meet certain requirements. It is important to ensure that the mattress is firm and that the baby does not sink into it, as babies need adequate support for their developing spine, and sinking would increase the risk of suffocation due to drowning.
It is essential that the mattress is breathable to maintain good ventilation and regulate the temperature during the baby's sleep. All our memory foam mattresses are firm, consistent, and breathable to ensure they are completely safe for the baby.
Is a firm mattress the same as a hard mattress?
Firmness and hardness in a mattress are not exactly the same. A firm mattress provides an optimal balance between comfort and good support for the body without sinking.
On the other hand, a hard mattress feels rigid, with less ability to adapt to the contours of the body, which may not be comfortable and can cause discomfort.
In the case of children's mattresses, the ideal is to choose an appropriate firmness that provides correct support for the development of the spine, but without compromising comfort. All our mattresses meet this requirement.
What firmness of mattress is suitable for a baby?
The ideal is for the mattress to be firm, but a firmness adapted to the baby's weight. If the mattress is too soft, the baby will sink into it and will not sleep safely, as there will be a risk of entrapment and suffocation. We must consider that a baby is not able to turn over by itself when it rolls over at night and ends up face down.
The crib mattress must be firm and at the same time adaptable and comfortable, thus allowing for even distribution of the pressure exerted on the baby's head and reducing the risk of developing plagiocephaly.
It is essential to find that balance to ensure a safe and comfortable rest for your baby, while also promoting healthy growth.
Why does the Care Pillow not have a hole in the center like most anti-plagiocephaly pillows?
Babies move a lot, even at night, and pillows or cushions for plagiocephaly that have a single hole or opening for placing the head can shift and pose a risk for various reasons.
First, since the hole has a rounded shape and the baby must have their head perfectly fitted in a single position, if the cushion shifts from its axis it will not exert the correct pressure. And, secondly, if the baby moves or turns over, this cushion, like any other object in the crib, can prevent them from turning back up, and this can pose a greater risk of suffocation and SIDS.
That is why the Care Pillow has dimensions that fit perfectly in the crib, bassinet, and stroller, to prevent it from moving within the crib. That is why it is a highly breathable pillow, even if the baby were to be placed face down involuntarily. And that is why, it does not have a hole, cavity, or opening in the center: because it allows total mobility of the baby's little head so that, wherever they are placed, the baby is protected from plagiocephaly and brachycephaly.
At what age can the Care Pillow be used?
It is true that the Spanish Association of Pediatrics (AEP) advises against the use of cushions and pillows in newborns in order to prevent sudden infant death from asphyxia, because the pillow is an item that can cause asphyxia or entrapment.
With this recommendation, the AEP refers to pillows that, due to their excessive height, force the baby to have their neck flexed forward, or because, being a small and loose object, it can move within the crib and be dangerous if the baby turns towards it, gets trapped, and cannot breathe properly.
Due to its dimensions and minimal height, the Care Pillow is recommended for babies up to 24 months, as long as the baby is comfortable. However, especially during the first year of the baby's life, the Care Pillow should only be used under parental supervision and when the baby is awake.
In what cases should the anti-plagiocephaly pillow be used?
In order to use a cushion or pillow for plagiocephaly with a child under 2 years old, it must be always under the supervision and watch of the parents.
It is not recommended to use the pillow while the baby is sleeping and not being watched, due to the risk of suffocation and entrapment. If we want to protect the baby from plagiocephaly while sleeping, the best option is to choose a anti-plagiocephaly mattress.
The anti-plagiocephaly pillow can be used in the crib or bassinet, in the stroller, in the bouncer, car seat, play mat… But remember to always keep in mind that the baby is awake and/or being watched by their parents.
What types of plagiocephaly does the Care Pillow prevent?
The Care Pillow is a pillow that prevents any type of cranial deformation: plagiocephaly (flattening of one of the back sides of the head), brachycephaly (symmetrical flattening at the back), and dolichocephaly (flattening of both sides of the skull, resulting in a narrower and taller head).
The reason is that its foam core has different pressure points, and also across its entire surface. This, combined with the free movement of the baby's head (since it has no hole), will help round out their little head, understanding rounding as the correct development of the morphology of their head.
Therefore, the Care Pillow allows for the prevention and correction of any type of flattening. This is one of the main advantages over pillows and cushions that only allow a single position of the head. This type of pillow with a hole only helps to reduce cases of brachycephaly, but not plagiocephaly.
My baby has plagiocephaly, is this pillow effective?
The degree of effectiveness of anti-plagiocephaly pillows is subject to many factors such as genetics, the baby's age, the severity of the deformation, the cranial morphology itself, and even the use of the product.
The anti-plagiocephaly pillow Care Pillow must be part of the prevention and correction therapy at home, but in no case should it be the only practice adopted nor should its use replace other equally important practices such as carrying, tummy time, etc.
In the most severe cases of plagiocephaly, a pediatric physiotherapist should be consulted to outline a treatment that may require complementary and/or alternative measures, such as craniosacral massages, the use of orthopedic helmets, etc.
